X-treme Tape
As an amateur electrician, I wake up every morning and thank 3M for inventing electrical tape. Well, perhaps I have better things to do... But if I DID do that, I may have someone new to thank. Vypar, a division of plastics guru Mocap, Inc., has created X-Treme Tape. It is made of a silicone compound which proves to be far superior to the vinyl we know and love. It's spectacular features include:
- No adhesive - bonds only to itself
- Won't melt up to 500° F
- Insulates to 8,000 Volts
- Forms a permanent airtight and watertight seal
- Flexible down to -60° F
- Tensile strength of 600 psi
- Stretches to 3x its length

Hm... if it doesn't stick to skin or hair and comes in a 1 inch wide roll... I can think of some uses for it.
